Hi and welcome to my gallery! First off I will have to say that I am a little eclectic in my subject matter, which ranges from wildlife to aviation, and portraits to tractors, and other things in the middle. I paint realistically, most of the time, but I’m working to loosen my approach and allow a little more freedom to develop in my paintings. Here's a little bit of useless trivia for you!! My ratio of small brushes to large is about 5:1… I just can't seem to get past those little brushes. Time to turn the hat around and let the paint fly with the big brushes!
You can read all this in the Artist Bio, but I thought I would give you the quick rundown about me!
At age 11, I began formal art lessons, learning the basics. From there I moved into pastels, then on to oils. In 1993 I graduated from college with a B.S in Commercial Art and a minor (well it really wasn't a minor... but I took ALOT of studio art classes!!) in studio art. Since graduation, I've entered several art shows had several solo exhibitions. I works in several different mediums, including graphite, pen and ink, watercolor, and dabble in acrylic, my love is, as it always has been, oils. I will say there is nothing like painting and being an artist. Describing how that feels would be difficult at best, but I hope that you will be able to see in my art what I feel when creating. Thank you for taking the time to view my art! -- The Bomber Jacket --
I love World War II Aviation. I have several aviation art pieces available for purchase. The 'Order Prints' link in the tool bar at the top of the page, will redirect you to the print store. One of the pieces I painted was a leather jacket with 'Nose Art' on the back. It was painted in oil and is extremely permanent. This is an image I found in a book several years ago, therefore I take no credit for it being original, other than I hand painted onto the jacket. I use this as an example only. If you are interested in commissioning a jacket with your design, please contact me at: I will be happy to discuss the details with you.
Accolades for Training Days II
Training Days II, 20x24, Oil on Canvas "To artistically render the watery surface of a duck pond is a triple whammy: Submerged objects must show through the reflected sky on a fluid picture plane. It's an exercise that combines representational painting skills with abstraction. Add to that the portrait of a bird dog with expressive nuances like a big black nose, sparkling eyes, and bracing cold water splashed on a furry brow as it fetches a practice duck, all faithfully portrayed with meticulously fine brushwork that shimmers with the same tireless exuberance and sunny disposition of a Labrador Retriever doing its thing, and you've got the painted masterwork - "Training Days II," by Scott Alcorn. " Gary Peterson - Intellectual Handyman
A Big Question... I have had several people over the years ask me one question... 'What is your favorite painting that you have painted?' What a tough question! There are very few I've painted in which I'm really happy. I do like certain qualities of most of my work, but there are very few paintings that fall under the catagory of 'favorite'. Here are a few that I do like ...
Hat, 8x10, Oil on Canvas SOLD
Gorhams Bluff Geese, 9x12, Oil on Board
Winfield, 11x14, Oil on Board

Just Off The Easel…
After the Rain 11x14, Oil, $350.00 One of my favorite times... When the rain has passed and puffy clouds have taken the place of the storm clouds.
Silver Ring 30x40, Oil, $3200.00 I chose this particular composition because I really liked the dress lines flowing upwards to the silver ring, I think the design works well.
Waiting at the Gate 11x14, Oil, $550.00 A few years ago, I took several reference photos at a rodeo in hopes of capturing something for a painting... This is the product of those reference photos.
Lime 12x12, Oil, $550.00 Here I am trying to loosen things up a little. I made it a point to use longer bushes and stepped back from the easel. Limes are one of my favorite fruits, I love to cook with them, and you can't beat them in a Corona!
On The Easel Now…
(Untitled) 24x30, Oil on Canvas This is one that I have been working with off and on for some time. It's about 85% completed, and hopefully I will finish it within the next month.
(Canadian Geese) 9x12, Acrylic This is my first real attempt to work in acrylics. They are so much different than oils! I think I may stick with oils after this painting!
(Head Study) 12x12, Oil This is a study I am doing in oil with a Pre-Raphaelite feel. Some of my favorite artists are the Pre-Raphaelite artists, Rossetti, Waterhouse, Alma-Tadema... I could go on!
Planned Paintings...
(I think that may be enough for now!)
